“It is always easier to talk about change than to make it. It is easier to consult than to manage.” External link opens in new tab or windowAlvin Toffler, U.S. writer The Adaptive Corporation, 1985.

Is Toffler right? Probably Yes.

Change in organisations is not only about processes, structures, and methods. It is also – and predominantly– about people. People who work within the organisation as well as those outside, for example, customers and suppliers! Management itself is a group of people, individuals with their very own views of the reality, together with perceptions, hopes and fears. Fear of change is natural.

Take the time to read the classic “External link opens in new tab or windowWho moved my Cheese?”, a little book describing how change affects people within the organisation and how one can deal with it. It will take you less than one hour to read it!

We will approach change management assignments with the right mix of science, sense, and sensibility – and the right portion of pragmatism. We will discuss and agree the approach with our clients to ensure that the objectives will be achieved in the most effective and efficient manner, and that the positive effects of change will last.

Examples for change projects in the areas of internal audit and risk management are restructuring and process changes, new or revised mandates/remits, the implementation of new methodologies, tools, and working with Human Resources to address the people side of the change initiatives.

Change projects that involve changes in the management team can often be facilitated by a confidential (self-) assessment of the current capabilities, based on a 360 degrees review methodology. This assessment can help identify particular strengths and weaknesses and areas in need of development.
